On the faculty pages for this chapter I recommend using OpenVPN
in place of vpnd. You might check with your instructor to see if
that is acceptable.
If it is not, let me know when you get vpnd working to the point
where you can do this experiment.
We used 192.168.?.0/24 addresses in the obvious manner so as to conform
to Figure 18.2. L1 and L2 are two hosts with multiple IP addresses, the
Net 1 addresses being 192.168.1.193 and 192.168.1.194 (both on eth0). We installed
OpenVPN 2.0.2 on L1 and L2.
One decision we made was to minimize our dealing with keys by using a single
static key. This is not desirable from the point of view of security, but
that was not a major concern for this experiment.
