Assignment 12: Installing Apache and PHP for Yourself

You have to use your own Apache server (with PHP) for the final project.

Installation

Instructions for installing PHP and Apache can be found in the PHP manual. However, there are some tweaks you need to make because you'll be installing these programs in your own account.

I made an annotated version of the instructions, and you can find it in the box outside my office.

When you edit the configuration for Apache, you'll need to listen on a different port. By default, it tries to listen on port 80, and only root can listen to a port less than 1024. So that we don't all stumble on each other, these are the port assignments:

Get the server installed by Monday December 8. I'll know where to look for your server.
