What Is It?
This seminar explores a range of current topics in computing, including topics in research and practice.
- Freshmen and sophomores must enroll in CS 195 at least three times.
- Juniors and seniors must enroll in CS 295 at least three times.
Course Outcomes
- The students will gain an understanding about how their education applies in industry and research in the academy.
- The students will improve their sense of community within the department by meeting periodically with students from all years for a common purpose.
Requirements
- To receive credit for a semester of CS195/295, you must accumulate 6 points during the semester.
- All activities are worth 1 point each. We have 3 "Department Social Times" scheduled. You may get at most 2 points from these social times (i.e., if you attend all three, you won't get credit for the third one.)
- The CSx95 coordinator (Prof. Victor Norman) will record your grades in moodle.
- Some other talks on campus may qualify as "computing related". To get credit for attending one of these talks, you must ask for approval from the CSx95 coordinator before attending the talk. After attending the talk, you must submit (via email) a 1-paragraph summary of what the talk was about.
- Click on the Talks link above to see the schedule of talks, and how many points each is worth.
- If you come to the end of the semester and still need one or two points to get credit, please see this page.
