At the extremes, we have those who deify technology, worshiping it as the savior of mankind, the ultimate solution to many, if not all, our social ills. Others demonize technology, blaming it for the worst elements in today's world. The truth is somewhere in between. Technology may indeed help us address problems such as world hunger, overpopulation, AIDS, cancer, illiteracy, and racism. But it can also contribute to concentration of wealth, pollution, depletion of limited resources, or bigotry.
