Status Report (CS/DATA 396)

The status report presentation will be given to a public audience late in the Fall semester (see the CS-X95 schedule). It should professionally tell a compelling story by arranging the following elements in an appropriate order:

• Title slide
• Vision: your "elevator pitch" (see the report)
• Demo of an initial working prototype or preliminary research results
• Summary of what you have accomplished so far (connect to your objectives)
• How the design norms have shaped your project so far
• Problems encountered so far and how you overcame them
• What you'll work on next semester

Time: 5 minutes per presentation, plus 2-3 minutes for questions and transition.

Work with your advisor to develop this presentation.

Final Project Presentation (CS/DATA 398)

The final project presentation will be given to a public audience late in the Spring semester (see the CS-X95 schedule). This may involve participation in a poster session or a full demo and presentation as appropriate.

The presentation should include the same elements as the status update, but at a greater level of refinement and professionalism. Refer to the report for more details.

• Title slide
• Vision: your "elevator pitch" (see the report)
• Demo of final product, or summary of research results and analysis
• What you accomplished (emphasizing how it addressed your vision)
• How the design norms shaped your project
• Problems encountered and how you overcame them
• Future work

Plan to practice doing this talk for your advisor and/or the course coordinator as part of the course requirements.

All team members should participate in the final presentation.
