Where Research Will Happen: The Digital Library

A high priority among academic librarians is the creation of a digital library. The library's website is usually the home of the digital library. The digital library is your portal to the wealth of research material on the Web. All research should begin at the digital library.

In the digital library are article databases, the database of library holdings, and links to valuable sources on the public Web. But the digital library provides much more than research tools. It contains tutorials, tips, and helps that quide the researcher. For example, on the Search for Books page in the Hekman Digital Library you will find links to other libraries in West Michigan, a link for completing an interlibrary loan form, and a link to online book sites. Librarians spend a great deal of time searching the Web, gathering together the finest Web sources, and organizing them in the digital library.
