TCP/IP

IPTO's solution to the "Tower of Babel" problem was to introduce into a new protocol—i.e., a set of communication rules—called TCP/IP.

TCP/IP is actually a suite of protocols, the two principal ones being:

  • Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and
  • Internet Protocol (IP).
