On older monitors, if the same image was displayed on the computer for too long, it became "burned in" on the screen and left a "ghost" image in the phosphorescent coating inside the picture tube. This was prevented by using a screen saver program. Screen savers are often used for fun. They display moving images on a computer screen after a set period of time with no activity on the computer. |
