Computer Hardware (cont.)

The hardware of every computer—from the simple microprocessor system that runs your microwave, to a laptop computer, to a large supercomputer used for research—can be divided into three main subsystems.

  • CPU: the Central Processing Unit
  • Storage: Primary and Secondary
  • I/O: Input/Output
