Student Research

Brom-microwulf-spring-2007

Tim Brom (BCS, 2007) helped to develop Microwulf, a portable, 8-core, Beowulf-class supercomputer. (see the Microwulf homepage).

In addition to being involved in faculty research projects, students can conceive of and run their own research projects.

One common place for this work is the senior projects course (see CS 396/398) in which our students have conducted research in a variety of areas, including:

  • Chinese Language Processing
  • Computer Graphics
  • Genetic Algorithms
  • Machine Learning
  • Motion Capture and Animation
  • Security and Trust Networks
  • On-Line Social Networking
  • Statistical Natural Language Processing
  • User Interface Design
  • Virtual Reality
  • Web Search

For some representative projects, see the CS 396/398 Hall of Fame.
