The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce that an endowment honoring Larry R. Nyhoff has been established to fund scholarships in computer science.
“This fund will allow us to offer scholarships to incoming students, something we have long wanted to do” reports department chair Joel Adams. “It also allows us to honor a cornerstone of our department, a prolific author, and a respected teacher and mentor for generations of students at Calvin College.”
Larry was honored by the college in 2002 by receiving the Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching. You can read the full story.
The department’s goal is to raise $120,000 for this endowment fund. We have raised $37,000 so far, largely through contributions of faculty members and friends of the department. Your donations will help us achieve our goal sooner, and over the years, they will help many students pursue a computing major at Calvin. This “gift that keeps on giving” will serve as fitting testimonial to Larry’s work at Calvin College.
If you already give annually to Calvin, we thank you for your support. We also want to point out that you may designate some or all of your annual gift to go to the Larry Nyhoff Scholarship.
Donations to this fund can be sent through Calvin’s development office with a note directing the gift to the “Larry R. Nyhoff endowment”.
