Objectives: The senior internship in
computing allows students to apply the principles and techniques they
have learned in the classroom in more realistic settings. Interns
work from 10-15 hours per week in a business or non-profit
organization under the supervision of a computing professional. They
also participate in internship seminars on campus under the
supervision of Calvin faculty. These experiences allow them to:
- see firsthand how computing is applied in business and industry
- gain a broader view of the computing industry
- enhance skills in team work, time management, and system development
- make and develop personal contacts
- add practical experience to their resumés
Interns are expected to develop job-hunting skills, complete a
project on site, maintain a personal journal, participate in on-campus
seminars, give presentations, and write a summary paper. Particular
emphasis will be placed on the nature of current business practice and
on the implications of a reformed Christian world view on that
practice.
This internship is offered in the fall, spring and summer sessions
to seniors in Computer Science or Information Systems.
