This directory contains class notes for CSC-210 at NCSU,
prepared by Joel C. Adams (Visiting Assoc. Prof), Fall 1994.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

To make a hard copy of a particular lecture, copy it to your
directory using the 'cp' command. There, use the 'uncompress'
command to decompress the file. For example, to decompress
the title page, type

   uncompress 0.ATitlePage.Z

and the framemaker file '0.ATitlePage' will be extracted. Then type

   add framemaker

followed by

   maker&

which will start framemaker running. Use its OPEN button and its
dialogue box to open the file. Then under its File menu, select
the Print option and fill in the dialogue box to print the hard
copy. For example, you may wish to unselect the 'Last Sheet First'
checkbox, or your pages will probably come out in reverse order.
You will also need to specify the name of the printer, in the
'Printer Name: ' box.

By default, maker's Print dialogue will display pages fully sized,
which is useful if you want to take notes on these pages.

If you wish to save paper (i.e., print quota) and display pages in
a smaller format, the 'Thumbnails' checkbox can be used. Its
default setting is 2 rows and 2 columns, so if you just check the
checkbox, you will get a 4-to-1 reduction (which is pretty small).
A 2-to-1 reduction can be achieved by selecting 'Thumbnails' and
setting Rows to 1 and Cols to 2 - the resulting hard copy will be
displayed in landscape mode (i.e., sideways on the page).

An alternative approach is to organize a group of your classmates,
and have one person print full-sized copies and then 'rent' those
pages to the others in the group who can then use a copier to copy
them in whatever format they prefer (this approach can be used to
create 2-sided copies, resulting in a thinner notebook).

Experiment with the ClassPolicies pages to find a suitable format.

Enjoy!
