Welcome to the computing literacy course sponsored by CompRenew Academy and Project Connect. We’ll set up a desktop computer and then discuss how to administer and use it properly. If you attend all of the course sessions and make adequate progress, you can take the computer home at the end. The computers are used, but still good machines. If you have any questions or if there is anything that you’d like to explore, please tell us.
We will cover the following topics:
Computing Systems and Administration - These sessions cover basic computer configuration and administration using Microsoft Windows (see the resources).
Computing Applications - These sessions introduce the common application software packages using Open Office and other free tools (see the resources).
Computer Programming - These sessions introduce computer programming using Processing (see the resources).
As part of the class, we may conduct the following surveys and
checkups: preliminary survey, final survey, followup checklist. If you have
questions about your computer, you can contact us at Project
Connect, 616-526-7163 or connect -AT- calvin -DOT-
