Today's exercise consists of two sets of experiments. The first set investigates the characteristics of value and reference parameters. The second set investigates the rules of scope in C++.
The intent of these experiment sets is to explore their respective topics. You should review these experiments, feeling free to replace, add or subtract any experiments that seem too easy or difficult for your students. The experiments are designed to be quite simple at the outset and increase in complexity.
Be sure to inform your students of any changes of this sort, as well as what experiments you wish them to perform. You may also want to discuss cutting (or copying) and pasting with your students, if they have not used these operations before.
The students will use the file params.cpp as a "laboratory" in which to conduct their experiments. If you wish to avoid network contention, save a copy of it beforehand in your course directory and instruct the students to copy it from there.
